Callme is a mobile short – video and voice – based social networking application, mainly serving users in countries such as India, the United States, the Philippines, Turkey, Morocco, and Vietnam. This type of application places extremely high demands on the access experience. In the past, the overall business of Callme was deployed on the overseas cloud platforms of domestic cloud vendors. There have always been poor experiences in terms of access latency, high availability, or image processing. And the client has been constantly looking for a cloud vendor that can cover all the above – mentioned countries and provide a better access experience. After preliminary evaluation, design, and testing of the architecture and access experience, it was found that GCP offers a better mobile – end user access experience and a more reasonable architecture in the above – mentioned countries, and there is also full support from Partner for image processing. This has led to the gradual migration of Callme to GCP, providing better services for mobile – end customers. The following are the solutions provided to the client by GCP and Baidao:

Description of the solution architecture

1. GCP’s GLB can provide a globally unique Anycast IP access point. Customers only need to configure one A record in the Domain Name System to achieve global accelerated access. They can implement http/https access according to requirements, or use different URL Maps to achieve different target groups. With simple configuration, powerful functions can be realized. There is no need to worry about performance and scalability issues.

2. GCP has a powerful network bandwidth globally, with edge sites for nearby origin return and the Quick protocol, reducing the origin return time. There is also a configurable cache definition for backend services, which can provide customers with the best access experience.
3. GKE instance groups can achieve automatic scaling during peak and low periods based on parameters such as CPU utilization without manual intervention, achieving cost savings and the best performance access experience.
4. Different Buckets can be defined according to the business, as well as the lifecycle management of objects, reducing costs and improving management efficiency.
5. Monitoring can provide customized query conditions and an intuitive, multi – angle visual interface based on logs, enabling operators to quickly locate and solve problems.
6. According to the customer’s application scenarios, provide suitable image processing functions for customers, as well as processing parameters adapted to domestic cloud vendors, making the customer’s use more flexible.

Features of the plan

It can reduce the access experience for mobile users by hundreds of milliseconds.
